This comes in the original box and also in the original cardboard sleeve (please note, that the box and sleeve have some slight staining and marks, along with slight wear on the corners of box). This has never been used and has been kept in storage. On the back is etched, Hand Made in USA. The butt/pommel does show a little bit of tarnishing, but this is more than likely due to the age and how it was stored. The finger guard is very secure. The Kodiak bear is etched on the front side of the tang, along with Case XX and USA – there are also 9 dots which you are able to tell the year it was made. Case was brilliant enough to introduce a dot-based system on the knives in the 1970s and they continued with that pattern in the 1980s. That might have made the range of things too wide to narrow what year these Case Kodiak knives came from, but this is not the case. Since we know that the general years of the Case Kodiak knives is between 1965 – 1980, we also know that only a few (units produced in the last 10 years of that range) will have this unique marking model.
