This is a once in a lifetime find. A horn cup with silver foot and rim profusely engraved with occult symbolism. Around the upper part of the cup is engraved the following Latin sentence:’Quia non mortui qui in aeternium non mentior’ translating as’For the dead who do not lie for all eternity’. Meaning, I assume, ghosts of the dead or perhaps the undead. The names Samael and Lilith adorn a goat head, the Sun and Moon with astrological symbols at their bases with’999′ which of course reverses as intended to’666′ as one raises and drinks from the cup….. The’Devil’s Cup’ perhaps…. There are two eyes engraved on the lower part of the cup with the date’1923′. It has been alleged that this amazing piece had connections to Aleister Crowley, but I have not discovered any evidence for this, but then absence of evidence is not evidence of absence….. The time period for a Crowley attribution is perfect, the cup itself is in every way a piece that accords with Crowley’s interests – so perhaps further reserch will validate this attribution. I believe that the silver (tested) foot/base and rim are later additions to the magnificent item and serve to further enhance its beauty. I WILL NOT LIST THIS PIECE FOR VERY LONG!
