Antique Early 20th Century Lovely Quality Ladies Parasol/Umbrella in black silk fitted with a graduated Rosewood shaft finished with a sterling silver colalr mount and a fabulous one piece hand carved Handle in Scottish horn featured in the likeness of a stylised Crane birds head. The Parasol is in very good condition, silver collar has a pleasing aged patina, silk shroud to the hinged metal skeleton of the parasol is in good condition and without rot, mothing or holes, that being said will benefit from a gentle clean. The Parasol is intact to the terminal point with brass shaft and steel mount, mechanical movement to the parasol is in good working order with locking latch clasp fitting responding correctly. The Parasol when closed shut measures 85.5 cm in length with a handle width (at the beads beak to back of head) measuring 8 cm. The frame to the parasol features the makers mark for’S. Fox of London’ a noted and prolific maker of the period. The Silver Mount has a lovely aged patina, no need to clean, horn handle feature would benefit from waxing. The parasol when erected measures 110 cm in diameter with a depth of approximately 30 cm. A Handsome example of the period will serve the owner very well for a variety of uses including keeping the sun and rain off of ones self as well as for making a fine accessory to ones wardrobe, would also suit Stage or Film. Horn and Silver Mounted Ebony Walking Cane with Ornate twisted Shaft. Fine and unusual, Ebony Walking Cane, with Horn handle and silver mount. The Ebony shaft is patterned and twisted throughout, finished with a green horn handle and a monogramed silver band beneath, it retains its original Brass Metal Ferrule. The Silver band is not hallmarked, nor does it have the makers mark. The Cane is in Good Antique Condition with light surface marks, scratching and a few dings to the metal work in keeping with age and use. The horn handle is damage free and well coloured, there is surface scratching and filler build-up around the join of the metal mount. The Wood is strong, straight, and sturdy, though there is scuffing and two tiny old holes into the wood. The original Ferrule is large and secure, but heavily discoloured. Overall Measurements: Height 84.5 Width x 10.5 cm (tapering to 1 cm). Height 6.5 x Width 10.5 x Depth 2.5 cm. H 5.5 cm. The item is in good condition, please see the full report above.
