This Holton H-379 Double French horn is a solid nickel Kruspe wrap symphonic double horn. All of the valves and slides are working well considering it is 30 years old. There are several scratches and 1 small bend in the bell. The bell is 12 inches and gives this horn a unique and rich sound. The lead pipe has “H-379″ etched near the mouthpiece receiver. Is engraved on the bell. This instrument has a lacquer finish but has several scratches. I was a band director for many years and bought this horn for my daughter. She was in my brass quintet which brought home many superior ratings. I took this horn to a music repair shop to see if it needed anything before I put it up for sale. The owner said “go for it”. Included is the hard shell case that is in good condition. I’ll also throw in the Bach 10 mouthpiece which is not in very good shape. Consider this horn if you’re wanting a good horn for less than half the cost of a new, excellent intermediate horn. The 8D is Conn’s large bore professional symphony double horn, and is usually built from solid nickel silver in a Kruspe wrap style. This horn is the 8DRS variant, and has a bell, 1st branch, and leadpipe all of which are made from rose brass for a warmer, fuller tone. This horn also features a screw-bell configuration, so the bell is detachable for easy storage. The valves move well with like-new compression and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of this horn, t. Here are a few miniscule dings on the inner wrap as well as a few light scratches. The bell engraving reads: C. / CONN/ 8D/ Made in/ U. The minor imperfections are visible in the pictures, and none of them affect the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wished for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely patina. This instrument comes with a new ProTec ProPac screw bell case, and a mouthpiece in good condition. How the horn plays. Full, warm and dark sound with a smooth, rich, and colorful tone. The horn is responsive, open, and well-balanced. The horn is capable of playing a wide dynamic range with a round, full, and powerful quality. The horn does not break up or become brassy at extreme volumes but is also capable of playing very softly while maintaining its fullness. All registers of the horn speak well and play fluidly. SOLID GEORGIAN SOLID SILVER WITH GLASS STONE SCOTTISH SNUFF MULL HORN c1800. This is a Georgian Solid Silver Scottish Snuff Mull Horn, this i believe to have been crafted c1800 making it around 218 years old, this isnt Hallmarked but that isnt unusual for these Scottish Snuff Horns of this Period but it does test for Solid Silver, this really is a Stunning Snuff Horn with the most Beautiful Colours on the Horn of Light Brown and Dark Brown, and the Horn has a lovely Curl at the End. It has a Solid Silver Round Raised Mount to the Neck, with a nice Band design around the edge of the Lid, the Hinge is Strong and the Lid closes nice and tight, the Silver Collar on the neck of the Horn still retains a little Gilt to it, and the inside of the Lid has its original Gold Gilt and looks Beautiful with the Rounded section on the inside Lid, on the outside of the Lid is Clear Stone applied to the Finial with a Floral Framing around the edge of the Stone, underneath there is a Crest of a Griffon of the Clan Macgregor or Gregor with the Word COURAGE. This would have been owned by someone Wealthy in the Georgian Period and this Snuff Horn would have meant something special in the Family Clan in Scotland, this really is an important piece of History, condition is very good on the Horn and the Silver with normal light Wear, there is a few little chips in the Glass stone and is only mentioned for accuracy, this would make a lovely gift and would add something special to any collection. Beautiful antique German or Austrian drinking horn. Has a plate on the top, for an inscribed presentation, but it is blank. Opening in horn measures 3 3/4 at largest point. Very impressive piece, and these dont come up often. My opinion is that it is in nice original condition. It is Missing one of the 4 feet (see 3rd and 11th photo). Horn has cracks and a chip out of it (see 6th, 8th, and 9th photo). Metal stand is bent (see 4th and 5th photo). Please inspect all photos. Even without the 4th foot, it still stands solid. Very cool and would make a nice statement as a decorator piece. Please ask any question, I will answer immediately.
