Antique Georgian Coral Tiara Bead Hair Pin with Blonde Horn Comb c1820 Regency
Georgian Coral Bead Tiara Style Hair Comb with blonde horn Hair pin Regency Era circa Early 1800s. Very pretty dainty Georgian Coral Hair Comb in a becoming Tiara Style with glorious Salmon Red Coral Beads in a silver gilt ornate mount. The hair comb is hinged at the top to allow perfect placement in that powdered Coiffure. A very wearable antique Georgian Hair Accessory still as pretty and useful today as 200 years ago. Would make a very nice’Something Old’ for that special wedding hair or any other special occasion. Coral was seen as an important amulet in the Regency era and was particularly favoured by Lovers. Beads were also given to young children to protect them against witchcraft which is why in those beautiful Georgian miniatures we so often see these Coral Necklaces elegantly worn round the neck. The Coral Set tiara comb section of the hair pin measures approximately 1 3/4 inches x 1/2 inch. The pin measures approximately 3 1/2 inches long to pin securely into your updo. The largest beads set on the comb are approximately 4.5 mms x 3mms oval down to the very tiniest which are 2.5 x 2mms on the oval. The pretty 9ct Gold closed back Mourning Pin Pendant measures approximately 22 mms x 15 mms. The rectangular coral in the centre 15 mms x 7 mms approximately. This would make a wonderful accompaniment to the Georgian Coral Bead necklace I currently have listed. There is some minor natural variation to the colour of the coral two or three of the tiny beads are a little paler in colour.
