Splendid Antique Silver Plate Horn Cornucopia Liquor set with 6 glasses, 1880s
Splendid Large Antique Silver Plate Horn Cornucopia Liquor set with 6 glasses C1880s. A fabulous example, decorated with silverplate work, finely detailed cherub is holding up the horn, on Lion &Shield Finish. Hand blown delicate liquor glasses can be filled up by the tap at the end of the horn. The tap is working perfectly. The Cornucopia Latin for cornu (horn) and copia (stock) is also known as the Horn of Plenty. This legendary object, which (as the name suggests) offered abundance, originally comes from Greek mythology. According to myth, the Cornucopia is the horn of the goat Amalthea, who nursed Zeus on Crete. As a token of gratitude, Zeus put her in the sky as a constellation and her horn granted the holder of it everything he or she desired. Splendid old decanter in the shape of the horn of Amalthea with six glasses, around 1880. Splendid shaped decanter set large antique silver horn with 6 glasses C1880s. A fabulous example, decorated with silver work, a finely detailed cherub is holding the horn, topped with a shielded lion on the horn cap at the top. The delicate hand-blown liquor glasses can be filled using the tap at the end of the horn. The faucet works perfectly. It is known as the Horn of Plenty. Antique 1906 Gold & Silver Cornucopia Horn Pendant with Chain
An interesting, well-made early 20th Century, Silver and Yellow Gold, Cornucopia shaped pendant on a modern Silver chain with an extender, making the chain 16 inches & 18 inches long. The antique pendant with Gold capped ends (unmarked both tested on acid indicating 9ct Gold and Silver). Hanging onto 1 x 1 Silver chains either side. The side of the pendant with superb hand engraving with two entwined “motifs”, XI, 1906, 22, IV, (engraving possibly Hockey related). Please see the various photos and my drawing. Size of pendant: 32mm long x 6mm wide graduating down to 1.8mm, drop chains approx 1/2 inch each. Gross weight: 4.9 grams. Complimentary gift box included. Good Antique condition, some scratches and marks, a couple of minor splits to gold cap, some jump rings unsoldered, please use my photos. As part of the condition and description.
