Holton horns offer an alternative in design that creates a great experience for the young or advanced players. This Farkas model offers independent tuning for convenience allowing the player to tune the Bb side of the horn separately from the F side. The versatile Model H177 offers a compact feel and bright sound. It includes a hand-fitted rotary valve system, string linkage, separate Bb tuning slide, and a change lever designed to fit the thumb in a natural position. Made of extremely corrosion-resistant nickel silver. Key of Bb/F double. 46? Bore; 12-1/4? Medium-throated, hand-hammered, nickel silver bell. 310? Venturi of nickel silver; tapered hand-lapped brass valve rotors; nickel silver branches, bows, and ferrules; solid nickel silver slides. The original valves on this horn are still tight, with 99% of original lacquer to the body and slides. This one is an honest H-177 that has come to us in close to pristine original condition. Good player, not expensive! Set includes: Case, Holton Farkas Mouthpiece. The H-177 is Holton’s “medium bell Phil Farkas model”. This one looks and plays like new! Phil Farkas told us, actually face-to-face, that he used a model H-177 for several years when he was in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Not the 179, but the 177! Founded by a woodwind repair technician in 1953, we soon will commence our seventy-first year in business. For two full years, we will repair or replace (whichever in our estimation is the more advisable), pads, corks, springs or other parts required, at no charge to the customer. In the event of cracked or damaged wood sections, we will repair at no cost to the customer or replace the section and charge the customer only for our net costs for the replacement section.
