Collectors item Limited Edition 1985 Kershaw Damascus knife #101
THE DAMASCUS STEEL STORY. The distinctive pattern of this Damascus steel knife is hand-forged in Solingen, Germany, using a process dating back to the steel swords of the Middle Ages. Made almost 40 years ago in limited numbers, these true Damascus Steel blades are super scarce. Unlike many “Limited Edition” knives, this knife was available by special order only and was basically made one at a time as they were ordered. The blade of the Kershaw Damascus Knife is a lamination of layers of iron and steel. To accomplish the lamination, glowing iron is hammered and folded 120 times, producing a marbled blade that is many times the strength of a single piece. Solid core Indian Sambar stag horn is used to hold the blade tang. Each knife is serial numbered and Mr. Sachse will make fewer than 500 of these knives each year. The card that accompanies this knife shows the serial number, the date of manufacture, and his signature. 5″ blade, 10 1/16″ overall length. Model # 4480 Matching serial number #101 on the blade, side of chest, and Makers Card. Unused and uncarried, the knife is in mint condition, with no issues noted.
