A Very Fine And Rare 18th Century Full Gilt Silver Mounted Ottoman Shamshir With Tughra And Owner’s Name In Its Original Scabbard. 31 and 1/2 inch deeply curved tightly forged beautiful wootz Damascus blade. Maidenhair pattern Damascus of extremely fine quality with no cold shuts. Elegant silver mounted hilt with classic Ottoman engraved silver cross guard with tughra and other silver stamps. Silver band encasing the steel tang engraved with diamonds. Bulbous horn grip scales with finger grooves. Work of art silver mounted Morocco leather covered wood scabbard. All mounts engraved ensuite and stamped with tughra and silver marks. Long silver chase with engraved owner’s name. Condition of the blade and hilt is fine to excellent. Horn grips are fine with only a few very minor chips close to the cross guard. Gilt silver scabbard mounts are fine with scattered marks expected on centuries old pure silver. Some strong traces of original gilding still present. Leather with minor losses and original braided silver wire binding. Fantastic early 20th century oak mounted dinner gong, with silver plated cuffs on the horns. In good fair condition for age and use – no damage and gongs away beautifully. The silver plate has some pretty distressed surface wear as pictured, i think it looks fab as is with its patina, but this may polish up better if desired. Antique Victorian horn tobacco or snuff tin. Oval shaped with an unusual sterling silver belt design mount which holds a Citrine. There is no silver marks but has tested as silver. In very good condition with no cracks or splits. The lid shuts firmly. The base is lightly scratched with age.
