To repair it you can see on youtube how to disassemble the horn and solder on the new capacitor. The battery box is clean and when I insert 5 new AA batteries (not included) I get the characteristic squeal. This only has one of the expanded polystyrene packing foam ends in the box. Henri Gautier Cornet – Stunning horn, early 1900’s – With #1 and #2 Mouthpieces Bb A and Case Bore. 464 – Serial# 46 A truly lovely instrument that plays very well. Original case is solid and in good antique condition, solid hinges and latches I taped the emblem on the top of the inside of the case, it is torn down the middle and not connected. Horn has 99% plating and shows amazingly well for a 100 year old instrument. It has dinks and signs of use, the worst dink is in between the 2nd and 3rd valve body connection, it has no plating at the dink. Both #1 and #2 unmarked mouthpieces are in excellent condition, horn also comes with an A slide. You have been searching all the forums, horn-u-copia and tribute sites trying to make sense of all the old horns out there. The main focus for my collection is on vintage, less known and less appreciated cornets and trumpets as well as student models since many old student horns are really well built and play amazingly pro-like. I highly recommend the use of spitballs regularly to clean any residual debris from your refurbished vintage instrument, remember vintage horns have sometimes been sitting for a very long time, you as an instrument owner should clean your instrument regularly and have a chem-clean or ultrasonic clean done every two years. 1975 Benge 5X #16642 with Case & 3 Mouthpieces – Great Horn 1st Trigger. Excellent playing horn that looks beautiful. The only issue is some bubbling on the lead pipe which will need to be changed out at some point but for now the horn is functional. The original silver on the rest of the horn looks very good. The valves are smooth and fast with excellent compression. Horn has a rare 1st slide trigger and includes the original case and 3 Bach mouthpieces 1 1/4C / 7C / 10 1/2C.. 1975 Benge LA 2X #17599 with Case – Closet Find. This is one of my favorite Benge models the ML 2X. It is an excellent lead horn it cuts like a knife. This one is an early LA model built in 1975. The horn is in excellent condition a 9.7/10. Original silver plate is 95% probably nicer but there is a small bubble spot on the leadpipe does not appear to be rot the leadpipe looks good inside so its a plating issue. Otherwise the silver looks good. The valves look great and are smooth with excellent compression. Includes the original Benge case with 4 mutes and 3 Bach Mouthpieces 3C / 7C / 7.
