This King 1122 Marching French Horn is in good playing condition. This is a good solid horn with a nice finish. There are some minor cosmetic imperfections in the finish of this horn, like small dings, some scratches, and imperfections in the silver plating. These cosmetic imperfections do not hamper this good player. The piston valves and tuning slides work well with smooth action. This horn has been run through our shop, oiled and lubed, and put into good playing condition. Our repair technicians also replaced the water key corks. All sales are final. The finish on this horn is very respectable and is limited to some minor dings, dents, surface scratches, and other signs of character. The bell is nice and straight along with the original lead pipe. Serial number posted for your review. It looks like this horn may have been spot lacquered at one time evidenced by the different shades of finish in the bell area. Please check out the pictures for further clarification of condition. All of the tuning slides move freely and the valves are fast and responsive. The previous owner took care of the horn very well. The horn sounds very nice and is one heck of a player! This horn may have been around the block a couple of times, but is in overall good condition. This horn has had most of the dents removed but may have some minor dings and dents still present. FRANKEN-BACH STRADIVARIUS/OMEGA Bb Soprano Trumept. Amazing Player, Roug h looking horn. Repaired case, and Bach 7C MOUTHPIECE. I play trumpet and cornet with a municipal brass band still. I play Eb cornet in one of the bands I participate in, and Bb cornet in a municipal band. I have played since 1960 or so. I taught band for a while, and have played and collected cornets and trumpets all these years. If you are interested, I have another a little worse, that has sequential serial numbers. My little devil is not included! RODE HARD AND PUT UP WET! That is a phrase in cowboy country for a worn out horse, that has been used and abused. I find it is a perfect description for this example BEFORE my PhD trumpet teacher-repair guy did his magic. He fit an oversized 2nd piston, and installed a nice silver Omege bell which he said was a 43 taper, and installed a 25-O leadpipe I had tested in another horn several years ago. He polished and straightened and fit, and what came out was just an absolute player. In fact, the resonance and projection is more like my very early Yamaha/Schilke 737. This instrument has had a very tough life, it appears. The second slide pull tab is still gone, and there are still a few small dents and dings, the silver on the third slide hand position is rough. I checked the instrument, and checked the slides and cleaned the valves, so it plays better than it looks. A repaired Bach case (functional, but not great) and a Bach 7C mouthpiece in good condition are included. Latches added in place of zipper, BTW! A serviceable Bach 7C mouthpiece is included. I have collected, repaired, and played trumpets for over 48 years. As a knowledgeable and experienced amateur, I have a lower cost of operation than a commercial enterprise, and can keep my costs low. I have thoroughly inspected this instrument, replaced the felts and corks and aligned the valves as needed, and made sure that it plays properly, and has proper tone for your beginner. I have cleaned the instrument thoroughly, polished all slides to prevent corrosion from locking the slides and valves, and properly lubricated the instrument with high quality lubricant. Many teachers do have preferences, and this can affect a student’s progress. I will, however, flatly state that many of the “bargain basement” new instruments from the unknown manufacturers (even when they are branded, you may not know who made them) are inferior. Parts for repair, or even the repairs themselves are not available, due to odd pieces, or inferior materials. Internal dimensions and correct alloys are critical on all musical instruments.
