Yamaha YHR-668N Screw-Bell Double French Horn with Case and Mouthpiece
Silver and Brass Music Shop is a brick-and-mortar brass instrument restoration and repair shop located in Carson City, NV. This is a Yamaha YHR-668 double french horn (serial number 0011110). This horn is in nice condition and plays very well. It is made from solid nickel silver in a Kruspe wrap style. The valves move well with excellent compression and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of this horn, there are a few very small dings and pings as well as a few areas of very light, isolated pitting and scratching. The bell tail has a little bit of waviness and there is also a little bit of waviness toward the edge of the rim on the bell flare. The bell has been converted to screw bell using an Alexander compatible ring. The leadpipe has YHR 668N” stamped near the mouthpiece receiver. The finger button rail has “YAMAHA/ JAPAN” and the serial number stamped on it. The minor imperfections are visible in the pictures, and none of them affect the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop, and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wishes for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely “raw brass” patina over time.
