Henri Gautier Cornet – Stunning horn, early 1900’s – With #1 and #2 Mouthpieces Bb A and Case Bore. 464 – Serial# 46 A truly lovely instrument that plays very well. Original case is solid and in good antique condition, solid hinges and latches I taped the emblem on the top of the inside of the case, it is torn down the middle and not connected. Horn has 99% plating and shows amazingly well for a 100 year old instrument. It has dinks and signs of use, the worst dink is in between the 2nd and 3rd valve body connection, it has no plating at the dink. Both #1 and #2 unmarked mouthpieces are in excellent condition, horn also comes with an A slide. You have been searching all the forums, horn-u-copia and tribute sites trying to make sense of all the old horns out there. The main focus for my collection is on vintage, less known and less appreciated cornets and trumpets as well as student models since many old student horns are really well built and play amazingly pro-like. Refurbishing and collecting original condition horns is my passion! UpYourBrass shop policies are to offer only thoroughly cleaned and detailed horns. All horns are tested as-is when received, then de-greased and all small components are detailed. Horns are then chem-cleaned and all solder and dent work is completed as needed and slides are detailed. Instruments are assembled and inspected, valves aligned, water-key corks, springs and valve felts are replaced as needed. UpYourBrass instruments all go through my personal final inspection, and are also photographed by me so no back of the house guys telling the front of the house it’s ready. Refurbished horns should be cleaned in a warm water bath with mild detergent after at least one month’s time and preferably after your first full practice session, don’t forget, to never mix oils, many are different and mixing them can lead to dirt buildup and sluggish valves. I highly recommend the use of spitballs regularly to clean any residual debris from your refurbished vintage instrument, remember vintage horns have sometimes been sitting for a very long time, you as an instrument owner should clean your instrument regularly and have a chem-clean or ultrasonic clean done every two years. Vintage cases are all disinfected, cleaned and sanitized but there may be a residual horn smell in any old case. UpYourBrass Policies (please read). Excellent Condition Mount Vernon NY Bach Stradivarius Trumpet with thumb trigger. ML Bore silver plated horn from 1962 -1963. These are legendary horns. Highly polished silver – see photos. Everything functions as it should. Valves and slides smooth. Valves show little wear. Completely overhauled and sanitized. See pictures – if you need more, let me know. It has piston valves and is played with the right hand on the valves. These horns are generally considered better marching instruments than regular horns because their position is more stable on the mouth, they project better, and they weigh less. It is primarily used as the middle voice of drum and bugle corps. Usually it is comes in Bb pitch along with F- pitch formed by the extra slide added to the horn. It comes with a mouthpiece which makes the instrument more adjustable in terms of tuning. It resembles to somewhat like French horn. However for gulf & South American countries we use Indian Post.
