Large old conch shell from Tibet. The conch shell is extremely large, 51 cm :. I bought this dreamlike conch shell from a Tibetan on my trip through Tibet, in Giantse. The conch shell horn is blown by the Tibetan monks at the start of a ceremony. In Buddhism, the shell symbolizes power and strength for what is new, it banishes evil. If you can do it, it can be blown! A customer of mine blown this, it sounds great compared to other clam horns. The beautiful conch shell is artfully set in a silver alloy. In the center there is a massive double dorje (tibetan vajra). The 8 Tibetan lucky symbols are depicted around the vajra. Beautiful lotus ornaments and Tibetan companions were hammered into the silver! The silver fittings are richly decorated with real stones. Some turquoise and corals were worked into the silver. Dimensions: 51 cm long, 20 cm wide, 12 cm high when lying down. You can see from the pictures that this horn is in great shape. The brass slides are shiny and move perfectly. The Valves are quick and crisp. The same valve cluster as a Strad, these Monel valves are fantastic. This horn was made in about 2002 and has some minor scratches and tiny dings… Nothing that would effect playing or looks. No plating loss at all!! These horns are great, and at a fraction of a new ones costs! This one has many goodies with it, including the original case and keys to lock it, a straight mute, a mouthpiece brush, and cleaning rod. Anyone who doesn’t want to pay over 1,200 for a Bach Strad! I have many horns, and this one performs just as well as any Stradivarius I own. This horn shines up so well too! I’m not sure the pictures I took do it justice, wait until you see it.
