Splendid Large Antique Silver Plate Horn Cornucopia Liquor set with 6 glasses C1880s. A fabulous example, decorated with silverplate work, finely detailed cherub is holding up the horn, on Lion &Shield Finish. Hand blown delicate liquor glasses can be filled up by the tap at the end of the horn. The tap is working perfectly. The Cornucopia Latin for cornu (horn) and copia (stock) is also known as the Horn of Plenty. This legendary object, which (as the name suggests) offered abundance, originally comes from Greek mythology. According to myth, the Cornucopia is the horn of the goat Amalthea, who nursed Zeus on Crete. As a token of gratitude, Zeus put her in the sky as a constellation and her horn granted the holder of it everything he or she desired. Great Corkscrew with Antler Handle made by John Hasselbring C 1930. In Brooklyn NY between 1890 and 1955 as a silver smith. He often used antler (horn) handles. With sterling silver caps. It is 7 inches long and 6.25 across the handle. It is marked Sterling. Silver and the number 40 on one cap and the other just has Sterling. Is on the screw to protect the tip.
