The knife is about 10″ / 25.4 cm overall; the blade is about 5-3/4″ / 14.5 cm long; solid full-tang construction; early 3-line HENRY C. BOOTH / NORFOLK WORKS / SHEFFIELD logo on ricasso. The blade has been sharpened; original light-gray patina throughout; the tip is intact. This rare knife is in fare overall condition but it might need some restoration work done. Handle liners and polished horn handle scales have came apart; German silver fittings have multiple contact marks; the guard is missing a small piece – this knife needs some TLS. Original veneer sheath is included; it’s missing the frog stud and the metal tip; the usual scuff marks are noted for accuracy. This “dirk” style was quite popular in the States during the Civil War, as evident from contemporary photos of Union and Confederate soldiers posing with their Bowies.
