I play Eb cornet in one of the bands I participate in, and Bb cornet in a municipal band. I have played since 1960 or so. I taught band for a while, and have played and collected cornets and trumpets all these years. If you are interested, I have another a little worse, that has sequential serial numbers. My little devil is not included! RODE HARD AND PUT UP WET! That is a phrase in cowboy country for a worn out horse, that has been used and abused. I find it is a perfect description for this example BEFORE my PhD trumpet teacher-repair guy did his magic. He fit an oversized 2nd piston, and installed a nice silver Omege bell which he said was a 43 taper, and installed a 25-O leadpipe I had tested in another horn several years ago. He polished and straightened and fit, and what came out was just an absolute player. In fact, the resonance and projection is more like my very early Yamaha/Schilke 737. This instrument has had a very tough life, it appears. The second slide pull tab is still gone, and there are still a few small dents and dings, the silver on the third slide hand position is rough. I checked the instrument, and checked the slides and cleaned the valves, so it plays better than it looks. A repaired Bach case (functional, but not great) and a Bach 7C mouthpiece in good condition are included. Latches added in place of zipper, BTW! A serviceable Bach 7C mouthpiece is included. I have collected, repaired, and played trumpets for over 48 years. As a knowledgeable and experienced amateur, I have a lower cost of operation than a commercial enterprise, and can keep my costs low. I have thoroughly inspected this instrument, replaced the felts and corks and aligned the valves as needed, and made sure that it plays properly, and has proper tone for your beginner. I have cleaned the instrument thoroughly, polished all slides to prevent corrosion from locking the slides and valves, and properly lubricated the instrument with high quality lubricant. Many teachers do have preferences, and this can affect a student’s progress. I will, however, flatly state that many of the “bargain basement” new instruments from the unknown manufacturers (even when they are branded, you may not know who made them) are inferior. Parts for repair, or even the repairs themselves are not available, due to odd pieces, or inferior materials. Internal dimensions and correct alloys are critical on all musical instruments. A shiny (or odd colored) instrument with inferior playing qualities will soon discourage even the most eager student. THIS DESCRIPTION IS AS ACCURATE AS POSSIBLE. Clifford Brown, and Louis Armstrong, two of the best and most innovative trumpet players ever, both played Blessing Super-Artist cornets. Everything functions excellently – Valves and slides very smooth and show very little wear. This vintage Cornet dates from 1947, among the glory days for these instruments. This is the real deal — with the original style hexagonal stop nuts and under-slung third-valve ring. Thoroughly cleaned and overhauled. All original vintage instrument with newer, beautiful silver plating which is 99.99% and gold inside of the bell. This is a great playing, virtually new looking, top-quality Pro Horn.
