Vintage antique clothing button was produced in the 1800s. The central image is of a bird — it almost looks like a vulture — surrounded by branches and leaves. The button is made of some sort of horn or shell. It has been inlaid with silver, brass and colorful pieces of mother-of-pearl. Please refer to the ruler pictured in the image for the exact button size. Overall condition: Solid VG….. The main piece of silver inlay has buckled somewhat — most noticeable around the central portion of the bird. This was likely caused by the horn material shrinking with age, leaving the silver inlay piece too large for the opening. I would guess that this was not an uncommon problem on larger horn buttons with inlaid design. The button may have also tarnished a bit with age, or have slight surface wear — but there are no cracks, chips, or other major flaws in the horn. It is otherwise in very nice shape and it will display quite well. See attached photos for more detail on the condition — and a close-up of the buckled portion of the silver. This listing is for a lovely antique Sterling Silver shoe horn with large embossed floral design on handle, c. The shoe horn has a two large daisy type flowers in the design in high relief on both sides with small oval cartouche for monogram (unused). Marked “Sterling” on each side of handle. Measures 7″ long and 1 3/8″ wide. The handle is in excellent Estate condition with only normal signs of wear. Shoe horn end has some minor surface scratches from normal use, no other noted flaws. Fred is a beautiful 17 in western saddle custom made by Broken Horn. If you want to learn more about Broken Horn look them up online and youll see they are up with the best. This is the finest quality leather I have ever seen on a saddle. It is supple and has always been well cared for. This saddle is completely ready to go to work in every way. Overall the saddle is in very good shape- it is a used saddle with normal wear marks but still a real eye catcher. It is fully basket weave tooled all over, including both sides of the stirrups, straps, fenders, rear cinch, etc. The silver (solid, not plated) is fantastic and still shines. It has silver engraved conchos and buttons with gold colored trim. Also a full size silver engraved horn cap (slight dent on outer edge). There are a few surface scratches on the right side rear skirt edge from a tree branch. You can see them in the picture. It has a very comfortable seat with a nice neutral position. Seat has some minor surface cracking in the leather (please see photos). Also the very front leading edge of the seat is no longer stitched onto the saddle but this in no way effects the utility or riding (not visible or noticeable). If you look you can also see where the saddle has holes to attach britchen. Fred is a heavy duty saddle and weighs in at a solid 50 pounds. I included a picture of the gullet measurement for sizing. You can also see that the sheepskin is in good shape too. There is a serial number stamped 2380.
