This is a handmade, one of a kind heirloom quality knife. The blade is high carbon Damascus steel with a twist pattern, that is 3/16″ thick and 1 1/2″ in height at its widest point and has at least 500 layers. This makes for a great camping/survival knife which is blade heavy. It is ideal for skinning or even chopping wood. The back part of the blade is the ax and the front is used for skinning. The rough part of the spine can be used for a bone saw, and due to its micro serrated-like edge and the Rockwell being set at 58 to 60 so it holds a great edge and is easy to touch up with a stone or steel. We have our own custom resin that I pour around the Pine Cone. This enhances its durability and natural beauty. Then it is flattened, cut & shaped to fit the knife. Finally, I use a two stage UV stable finish, this coating also further enhances the durability and is slip resistant.
