Antique painted Horn Georgian tortoiseshell Card Case With Original Cards. This was made at the end of the 18th early 19th century they were made to put business cards in and women would take them to balls. This is painted to look like Tortoiseshell then a thin layer of horn is then put on its a peace of art in its self. Georgian Coral Bead Tiara Style Hair Comb with blonde horn Hair pin Regency Era circa Early 1800s. Very pretty dainty Georgian Coral Hair Comb in a becoming Tiara Style with glorious Salmon Red Coral Beads in a silver gilt ornate mount. The hair comb is hinged at the top to allow perfect placement in that powdered Coiffure. A very wearable antique Georgian Hair Accessory still as pretty and useful today as 200 years ago. Would make a very nice’Something Old’ for that special wedding hair or any other special occasion. Coral was seen as an important amulet in the Regency era and was particularly favoured by Lovers. Beads were also given to young children to protect them against witchcraft which is why in those beautiful Georgian miniatures we so often see these Coral Necklaces elegantly worn round the neck. The Coral Set tiara comb section of the hair pin measures approximately 1 3/4 inches x 1/2 inch. The pin measures approximately 3 1/2 inches long to pin securely into your updo. The largest beads set on the comb are approximately 4.5 mms x 3mms oval down to the very tiniest which are 2.5 x 2mms on the oval. The pretty 9ct Gold closed back Mourning Pin Pendant measures approximately 22 mms x 15 mms. The rectangular coral in the centre 15 mms x 7 mms approximately. This would make a wonderful accompaniment to the Georgian Coral Bead necklace I currently have listed. There is some minor natural variation to the colour of the coral two or three of the tiny beads are a little paler in colour. PLEASE BROWSE MY ITEMS AND HOPEFULLY THERE IS SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY. RARE GEORGIAN SOLID SILVER WITH SCOTTISH THISTLE SNUFF MULL HORN. This is a Georgian Solid Silver Scottish Snuff Mull Horn, this i believe to have been crafted c1800 making it around 218 years old, this isnt Hallmarked but that isnt unusual for these Scottish Snuff Horns of this Period but the Thistle on the Lid does test for Solid Silver but the Collar could be a Base Metal, this really is a Stunning Snuff Horn with the most Beautiful Colours on the Horn of Light Brown and Darker Brown, and the Horn has a lovely Curl at the End. It has a White Metal Mount to the Neck, with a nice Silver Thistle design on the Lid, the Lid does have a curve to it and the Cork to the underneath might not be Original and has wear to the Cork, the Hinge is Strong and the Lid closes nice and tight but because of the Curve in the Lid is not Flush and a little mis aligned and looks like there might be an old repair on the hinge to the collar, This would have been owned by someone Wealthy in the Georgian Period and this Snuff Horn would have meant something special in the Family Clan in Scotland, this really is an important piece of History, condition is good on the Horn and the Silver with tarnish on the Collar and on the Thistle, this would make a lovely gift.
