No dents or dings on this instrument and lacquer shows almost no wear. The original valves on this horn are still very good. There are minor scratches on the bell-spout. The case almost looks new; not perfect but close. It is a good player, recommended! Wichita Band Instrument Company is a small musical instrument emporium located in the center of the USA. Silver and Brass Music Shop is a brick-and-mortar brass instrument restoration and repair shop located in Carson City, NV. Here is a vintage (serial number 601507) Holton H-378 double french horn. This is a yellow brass Kruspe wrap Bb/F full double french horn. It is in very good condition, and plays very well. The valves move well with good compression and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of this horn, there are some very small dings and pings as well as some light scratching, etching, and pitting throughout. The edge of the bell flare and the bell tail have some waviness as a result of previous dent removal. The bell engraving reads: HOLTON/ ELKHORN. ” The leadpipe has “H378 stamped near the mouthpiece receiver. The minor flaws are visible in the pictures, and none of them affect the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop, and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wishes for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely “raw brass” patina over time. This instrument comes with a somewhat worn hardshell case, and a mouthpiece for play-testing purposes. How the horn plays. Full, warm and dark sound with a smooth, even tone. The F and Bb side timbre and intonation match well. The horn is open and all registers of the horn speak well, playing with good fluidity. All horns are located at Silver & Brass Music Shop.
