MTH Rail King O Gauge 4-Car MTA Subway Set with Horn, #30-2162-0. This car is in near-perfect, lightly-used condition. Includes the original box, customized foam insert, and plastic bag. This is from my father’s collection. A lifelong inhabitant of New York City and an avid Lionel collector since childhood, he kept his collection in excellent shape, in custom-built storage cases and in the original packaging as often as possible. Of course, there is some normal wear and tear but if a piece or its packaging has any damage beyond that, I will include it in the description and/or pictures. This is a very nice King 627 silver upright bell baritone with case. It is serial number 702114. That would make it about 1980 or so. It is in playing condition. The silver finish is beautiful. As happens in a big case the mouthpiece and come out of its position and rolled around in the case. It is called “case rash”. This horn has it. You can see in the pictures. It is on the tubing and the bell. The horn sounds great and will be a great travel horn. The bell is just over 11 inches across. This is a great horn for a student or a professional travel horn. King Liberty model trumpet in silver plate with gold wash in the bell. Great playing horn with smooth valves and good slides. Unrestored valves have a slight leak in a pressure test but not bad for its age. Serial number 114731 dates this to about 1929 and this is the medium bore 0.448 size. Comes with original case and a very nice silver plated mouthpiece with “32” on it. It’s not marked White but is identical to another one I have. Some plating wear near the pinky ring on the top and bottom of the pipe. The two straight pipes on the middle portion of the tuning slide have been replaced with some vintage ones and on the back side you can see some engraving. The bell measures 4.5. Silver HN White King Liberty Model Trumpet 1920s with extras. In fantastic shape for almost 100 year old horn, just minor blemishes. See pictures for condition. Recently serviced, cleaned, new springs, corks and felts. Comes with original case, HN White 11 mouthpiece (period correct), mute, lyre, receiver adapter (not sure what it does, but it was in the case when I got it) and second set of valve slides. Main tuning slide and third valve slide have a removable center section for switching pitch to “A”. The other set of slides that come with the horn are a mystery. As this is a Medium Bore Low Pitch horn, one possible explanation for the slides is to change it high pitch maybe? If you know, let me know! The horn sounds great and needs nothing.
