Many of them are cheap (and sadly most often poorly made) and if this is what satisfies you go no further! This beauty is for the discerning shooter/collector who wants a beautiful yet collectible item and that will be the centerpiece of your collection of black powder accessories for years to come! I used to shoot black powder and used 2 different grades of powder, 2F for the 50 Cal. Rifle and 3F for the various pistols that I shot. These 2 grades of powder always seemed to work the best for the 2 different types/caliber guns. Thus I had 2 different powder dispensers. One was a large horn for the 2F and a small flask for the 3F powder. This smaller horn is for the 3F for your pistol or light caliber rifle. The horn itself is a beautiful exotic Springbok horn from Africa. I consider it to be one of the most beautiful woods in the world!!! It has been treated with Aqua Fortis. This is the same treatment that the old style Kentucky style rifles that had tiger maple stocks. The Aqua Fortis is applied to the wood and then has a red hot piece of iron passed over it and the pattern literally jumps out at you!!! I do a lot of this type of finish and it never ceases to amaze me when the pattern emerges. The pour spout and the end cap filler plug are lathe turned from solid brass. The pour spout is very tight to prevent loss in the field. The end filler plug is threaded 1/2 28 TPI. The end is deeply knurled to make it easy to open. On the rare Springbok horn there is a highly detailed. 925 Sterling Silver standing Grizzly bear with bright yellow Citrines in the eyes. The ends have machined grooves to attach the strap of your choice for carrying. The shape of the horn makes it fit your right hand like a custom glove!!! This set includes a Sterling Silver bear claw patch knife. The knife handle is a cast bear claw. This fits your hand perfectly!!! The blade is Soligen stainless steel.
