This stick features a light bovine horn top, furnished with a silver collar which is hallmarked:’London 1876′ Solid malacca cane shaft and an original bovine horn ferrule. Measurements: Total length – 83cm Width of the top – 4cm Width of the shaft (under the top) – 2.1cm 205g. Early in the 20th century, Malacca was referred to as the King of Canes. Malacca is one species of rattan (Calamus Ascipionum) found on the coast of Sumatra. Rattan palms have long, slender stems, and were perfect for the making of walking sticks. The stem is not round, but has a ridge or spine, often called a “tear-drop, ” running along its length. Very light-weight, yet very strong, With a good flex for comfortable walking yet like a bamboo unbreakable. With no two specimens being alike.
