Silver and Brass Music Shop is a brick-and-mortar brass instrument restoration and repair shop located in Carson City, NV. This is a serial number. Conn 8DRS Double French Horn. The 8D is Conn’s large bore professional symphony double horn, and is usually built from solid nickel silver in a Kruspe wrap style. This horn is the 8DRS variant, and has a bell, 1st branch, and leadpipe all of which are made from rose brass for a warmer, fuller tone. This horn also features a screw-bell configuration, so the bell is detachable for easy storage. The valves move well and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of this horn, t. Here are a few minuscule dings on the inner wrap. There are also a few areas of light etching, pitting, and scratching on the inner wrap. The Bb side third slide has one small solder repair. The bell engraving reads: C. / CONN/ 8D/ Made in/ U. The minor imperfections are visible in the pictures, and none of them affect the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wished for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely patina. This instrument comes with a new ProTec ProPac screw bell case, and a mouthpiece in good condition. How the horn plays. The horn plays with a full, warm, and sonorous quality and a smooth, buttery tone. The horn is free-blowing and well-balanced, capable of playing a wide dynamic range as well as a wide range of styes. All registers of the horn speak well and play fluidly between. Casio Digital Horn with Midi DH-100 Sax No Squeal Saxophone. The Casio DH-100 has six built in synthesized sounds; saxophone, trumpet, synth-reed, oboe, clarinet, and flute. The tones produced are audibly more’electronic’ than the tones of the real instruments named. Digital Horn looks like a clarinet/saxophone hybrid, and can be played with recorder like fingerings over a two and a half octave range, or with the “Casio system” (similar to standard brass instrument fingering) which allows for up to 4 octaves to be played. Jean Baptiste JTP-680S Silver Plated Trumpet, with Case and MP Bore. Horn is playing very nice, perfect 1st and 3rd slide action, valves feel awesome. It appears Sam Ash with their Jean Baptiste horn line has abandoned the Intermediate level horns it was making like this one. Now the 483LE is their only offering and they are made in China. Far superior build on this horn, very sturdy. Plating is 95% with wear in the hand hold area, main bell to leadpipe brace has been resoldered, the action on the 3rd slide is perfect. Valves show plating wear, but have great action and good compression. Comes with a Protec Gig Bag that has seen some use and has some separation at the ends, zippers and case are very solid otherwise, comes with a 7C Mouthpiece. All horns are soaked in an organic green solution, power brushed, hand brushed, and rinsed. Valve chambers polished, top and bottom, valve components soaked, detailed and rinsed, and all small parts cleaned. Needed solder work completed, dents and most dings removed, valves lapped, cap threads inspected and trued, slides detailed, dry horn and components are scrubbed clean, hot water rinsed thoroughly, pads and springs changed when needed, valves aligned, lubed, oiled, hand polished, cases disinfected and vacuumed and horn is play tested. Refurbished horns must be cleaned after the first month of playing and should be cleaned after your first practice session and all the oils and lube should be removed and modified to what you like to use. I use Al Cass Fast on ALL my valves, and Space Filler on 3rd on 1st slideswith finger hooks, rings and triggers. I will offer full consideration on any parts or horns that are listed improperly.
