The 8D is Conn’s large bore professional symphony double horn, and is usually built from solid nickel silver in a Kruspe wrap style. This horn is the 8DRS variant, and has a bell, 1st branch, and leadpipe all of which are made from rose brass for a warmer, fuller tone. This horn also features a screw-bell configuration, so the bell is detachable for easy storage. The valves move well and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of this horn, t. Here are a few minuscule dings on the inner wrap. There are also a few areas of light etching, pitting, and scratching on the inner wrap. The Bb side third slide has one small solder repair. The bell engraving reads: C. / CONN/ 8D/ Made in/ U. The minor imperfections are visible in the pictures, and none of them affect the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wished for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely patina. This instrument comes with a new ProTec ProPac screw bell case, and a mouthpiece in good condition. How the horn plays. The horn plays with a full, warm, and sonorous quality and a smooth, buttery tone. The horn is free-blowing and well-balanced, capable of playing a wide dynamic range as well as a wide range of styes. All registers of the horn speak well and play fluidly between.
