At our workshop, we take great pride in crafting genuine Damascus steel knives that go beyond mere acid etching. Here’s a simplified overview of how we create our Damascus steel. Material Selection: We use a combination of 1095HC and 15N20 nickel carbon steel for our blades. Layering: The selected steels are heated and folded repeatedly to achieve the desired layer count, which results in a remarkable 384 layers. Acid Burn: After the layering process, the blade is treated with acid. This acid burn reaction brings out the satin color in the nickel and creates a blackish-gray hue in the high carbon steel. It is during this stage that the beautiful layers of Damascus steel become visible. Blade Finishing: Simultaneously, we sharpen the blade’s edge, transforming the acid-burned edge into a striking satin finish. Through our commitment to maintaining the authenticity and craftsmanship of Damascus steel, we ensure that each knife in our collection showcases the intricate layers and delivers exceptional performance. At our workshop, we take immense pride in handcrafting authentic Damascus steel knives that go beyond simple acid etching. Here’s an easy-to-understand overview of how we make our Damascus steel. Choosing the Right Materials: We use a mix of 1095HC and 15N20 nickel carbon steel for our blades. Building Layers: The chosen steels are heated and folded multiple times to create the desired layer count, resulting in an impressive 384 layers. Revealing Patterns: After layering, the blade is treated with acid. This acid reaction brings out the shiny color in the nickel and forms a dark gray hue in the high carbon steel. This is when the stunning Damascus steel patterns become visible. Finishing the Blade: At the same time, we sharpen the blade’s edge, turning the acid-treated edge into a beautiful shiny finish. By staying true to the authenticity and artistry of Damascus steel, we make sure that every knife in our collection displays the intricate layers and offers exceptional performance. We only sell knives to individuals who are 18 years of age or olde. Features and Further Details. Leather Sheath (if pictured): This item comes with a top quality extra thick Leather Sheath. The leather Sheath is entirely crafted by hand, with added stitching that enhances its durability, enabling it to endure years of rough and tough use. Item Care and Cleaning. When needed, use a Diamond Wet Stone or better to re-sharpen the blade at 20-degrees. When done using the item, wash it in soap and water, dry completely, coat in gun oil and store away from the sheath. Leather pulls moisture out of the air and can rust the blade if stored improperly.
