This antique walking stick features a bovine horn crook handle with hand-carved accents, furnished with a repousse silver collar hallmarked for:’Birmingham 1911′ With a makers mark:’J. Henry Howell & Co walking sticks was founded in 1832 and was originally based at 76 Aldersgate, London. The Howell shop, established at number 76 Aldersgate in London by John Howell, was highly regarded among Londoners. Among the high-end accessories offered by the business was a range of fashionable walking canes. After John’s wife, Sarah died in 1851, the shop was jointly operated by John, his son Henry & daughter Amelia.
