The minor imperfections are visible in the pictures, and none of them affect the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wished for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely patina. This instrument comes with a new ProTec ProPac screw bell case, and a mouthpiece in good condition. How the horn plays. Full, warm and dark sound with a smooth, rich, and colorful tone. The horn is responsive, open, and well-balanced. The horn is capable of playing a wide dynamic range with a round, full, and powerful quality. The horn does not break up or become brassy at extreme volumes but is also capable of playing very softly while maintaining its fullness. All registers of the horn speak well and play fluidly. This Holton H-379 Double French horn is a solid nickel Kruspe wrap symphonic double horn. All of the valves and slides are working well considering it is 30 years old. There are several scratches and 1 small bend in the bell. The bell is 12 inches and gives this horn a unique and rich sound. The lead pipe has “H-379″ etched near the mouthpiece receiver. Is engraved on the bell. This instrument has a lacquer finish but has several scratches. I was a band director for many years and bought this horn for my daughter. She was in my brass quintet which brought home many superior ratings. I took this horn to a music repair shop to see if it needed anything before I put it up for sale. The owner said “go for it”. Included is the hard shell case that is in good condition. I’ll also throw in the Bach 10 mouthpiece which is not in very good shape. Consider this horn if you’re wanting a good horn for less than half the cost of a new, excellent intermediate horn. About the Horn This is a well-cared for professional Conn 8DRS rose brassdetachable bell double French horn, with nickel body and slides. There are nomajor dents, but there are a few minor dents and scratches consistent with use, and a some spots of lacquer wear. It has good compression and all valves andslides move freely. It recently had a professional ultrasonic cleaning andplays very well. It is great for student or professional use as it offers theflexibility and projection a horn player needs to succeed at all levels. Thetraditional large throat bell and larger bore lead pipe gives it a dark richtone that fits well with any playing style. The detachable bell makes traveland transport more convenient. Two water keys have been installed on the twomain tuning slides. A duck foot was added to the hand grip for better supportwhile playing. About the Case Included is a used, acceptable condition black Marcus BonnaMB-1 screw bell case. Made by hand in a Brazil, Marcus Bonna cases are amongthe most popular by horn players of all levels. The MB1 has a zipper enclosureand a soft cloth interior over forgiving foam. The shell is made of moldedfiberglass. Outside you will find a small zipper music pouch on the back, andon the top is another triangular shaped zipper pouch. The pouches are great forcarrying lubricants, mouthpieces, music, repair kits, etc. It has some wear andtear but is still very intact and usable.
