Here is a vintage serial number. 604486 Holton H-279 “Farkas” double french horn. His instrument was originally developed and designed by Philip Farkas in the 1950s. The Holton 279 is identical to the Holton 179 double french horn except that it has a screw bell configuration. The horn started life as a standard Holton 179 double french horn, and has been upgraded to a screw bell configuration. This instrument is in very good condition, and plays well. The valves move well with excellent compression and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of this horn, t. Here are a few very small dings and pings as well as a few areas of light, isolated pitting, scratching, and etching throughout. The bell has been converted to screw bell using an Alexander compatible ring. The trigger has also been modified with a larger and more comfortable thumb paddle.
