This is a Georgian Solid Silver Scottish Snuff Mull Horn, this i believe to have been crafted c1800 making it around 218 years old, this isnt Hallmarked but that isnt unusual for these Scottish Snuff Horns of this Period but the Thistle on the Lid does test for Solid Silver but the Collar could be a Base Metal, this really is a Stunning Snuff Horn with the most Beautiful Colours on the Horn of Light Brown and Darker Brown, and the Horn has a lovely Curl at the End. It has a White Metal Mount to the Neck, with a nice Silver Thistle design on the Lid, the Lid does have a curve to it and the Cork to the underneath might not be Original and has wear to the Cork, the Hinge is Strong and the Lid closes nice and tight but because of the Curve in the Lid is not Flush and a little mis aligned and looks like there might be an old repair on the hinge to the collar, This would have been owned by someone Wealthy in the Georgian Period and this Snuff Horn would have meant something special in the Family Clan in Scotland, this really is an important piece of History, condition is good on the Horn and the Silver with tarnish on the Collar and on the Thistle, this would make a lovely gift. A stunning 19th century Scottish Horn Snuff Mull. The snuff mull is made of a horn, curled at the end. It has a sterling silver band on the upper part with silver hinge and domed lid. Lid is beautifully decorated with engravings and adorned with purple Amethyst in ridged bezel cup. Inside of lid is still attached the bung, made of cork. Lid still closes firmly. Silver is not hallmarked, which is common for these types of silver applications to horns. 9cm/ 3.5 inch long by 8cm/ 3inch at its widest point. Diameter Lid: 4.5cm/. This would have been owned by someone Wealthy in the Georgian Period and this Snuff Horn would have meant something special in the Family Clan in Scotland, this really is an important piece of History, condition is very good on the Horn and the Silver with normal light Wear, there is a few little chips in the Glass stone and is only mentioned for accuracy, this would make a lovely gift and would add something special to any collection.
