Wichita Band Instrument Company Wichita, Kansas. G Conn 8D Double French Horn in Nickel-Silver, Made in Eastlake, Ohio; serial #5-670104. The Conn 8D French horn was borne out of the collaboration between powerhouse horn-playing brothers Arthur, Jack, and Harry Berv and the innovative engineers at C. Introduced in 1938, the Conn 8D cemented the tradition of large bell, all nickel silver, Kruspe-wrap French horns in the United States. Quickly becoming the instrument of choice for the Cleveland Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic, the sound of the Conn 8D has also been heard by billions of people worldwide in Hollywood film scores. With its distinctive tone quality and a broad acoustic profile, the warm sound of the 8D attracts horn players worldwide. The large bell throat helps keep the sound from spreading and getting too overblown in loud passages and the all nickel silver construction gives clarity to the sound. The 8D excels in the recording studio, where its fully formed sound is picked up authentically by microphones at any distance. Whether you are recording the latest Hollywood blockbuster, practicing in your home studio, or on stage in a famous concert hall or your local high school, the classic sound of the 8D is back, ready for the 21st century. Original Valves on this horn are still tight, with 99% of original epoxy lacquer finish. Never any wrinkles and minor dings have been burnished out by our shop. No patches, no thin spots. Set includes:Case, Mouthpiece. This is a good Double Horn for student or adult amateur use. Wichita Band Instrument Company is a small musical instrument emporium located in the center of the USA. The owners are Kansas natives Gary L. Ray and his two sons. Founded by a woodwind repair technician in 1953, we soon will commence our seventy-first year in business. We’re not a “back bedroom” operation but can report that we are the owners of a proper “brick and mortar” workshop. It’s in addition to any factory guarantees. For two full years, we will repair or replace (whichever in our estimation is the more advisable), pads, corks, springs or other parts required, at no charge to the customer. In the event of cracked or damaged wood sections, we will repair at no cost to the customer or replace the section and charge the customer only for our net costs for the replacement section. Wichita Band Instrument Company maintains a repair department capable of restoration work of the highest quality. Even though repairs are essentially “free” for the first two years, after that period has expired, we remain at your service to maintain and repair your musical equipment forever. It’s our “service after the sale” promise and has been since 1953! WICHITA BAND INSTRUMENT COMPANY / WICHITA, KANSAS / USA.
