Vintage Yamaha YHR-561 Double French Horn with Case and Mouthpiece
Silver and Brass Music Shop is a brick-and-mortar brass instrument restoration and repair shop located in Carson City, NV. This is a Yamaha YHR -561 Double French Horn (serial number 001534). This horn is in nice condition and plays well. It is made from yellow brass with nickel silver accents. The valves move well and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of this horn, there are a few small dings and pings as well as areas of light pitting, etching, and scratching. A few small guards have been added to the inner wrap of the horn to protect vulnerable areas from damage. The finger button rail has “YAMAHA” stamped on the top and “YHR 561″ and the serial number stamped on the bottom. The minor flaws are visible in the pictures, and none of them affect the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop, and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wishes for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely “raw brass” patina over time. This instrument comes with its original somewhat worn hardshell case and a mouthpiece in good condition. How the horn plays. Full, dark and warm sound with a smooth, buttery tone. All registers of the horn speak and play with good flexibility and accuracy. The F and Bb side timbre and intonation match well once the slides are pulled out the correct amount.
